I find no other more encouraging words that those found in The Scripture itself. The Bible says of itself that it is the inspired word of God; it’s breathed by the Holy Spirit. When I pick up the Bible and read, there’s always something inherently different than when I read any other book. I sense and feel its inspiration…my spirit resonates with Truth.
Over the past several years I have gone through some challenging times that have brought me into a deeper dependence on God and the hope in His word. I took to writing my favorite verses of scripture on index cards for quick reference. I want to share some of them to give you hope as well.
Psalm 31:7: “I will be glad and rejoice in your love for you saw my affliction and knew the anguish of my soul.” (All italics are mine.)
Psalm 59:9: “O my Strength, I watch for you; you, O God, are my fortress, my loving God.”
Psalm 34:4: “I sought the Lord, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears.”
Psalm 18:28: “You, O Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.”
Isaiah 30:18: “Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; He rises to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for Him!”
Jeremiah 17:7, 8: “But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out is roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”
Psalm 18:35: “You give me your shield of victory, and your right hand sustains me; you stoop down to make me great.”
Psalm 48:14: “For this God is our God for ever and ever; He will be our guide even to the end.”
Meditation on verses like these surely turns darkness into light. We are NEVER without hope…for the next moment, for the day, for the week, for the year…for eternity!
